Emily Pilarski

5/8/2021 Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week

Our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week for this week is Emily Pilarski, a member of the Softball Team a West Central High School.

Emily helped lead her team to the Championship of the Lady Apache Classic in Wabash and helped the team stay in first place in the Midwest Conference as the #9 ranked Trojans only loss in a 4 game run was to #4 ranked South Central as she set a school record for the most strikeouts in a season with 118, surpassing a record which had stood for 9 years!  

In the 4 game run, she threw 19 2/3 innings, striking out 27 while only giving up 3 walks while also helping out at the plate.  Her bat was big as she went 8 for 14 with 5 RBIs and scored 4 runs. 

Her biggest RBI came in the bottom of the 7th in a must win conference game against South Newton with the team trailing and 2 outs.  Her single drove in a run from third which tied the game and allowed the Trojans to win in the 8th

In addition to being a 4-year letterwinner in softball, Emily also was a 3-year letterwinner in basketball and volleyball.  Also a student leader, she serves as Student Body President and is also a member of the National Honor Society and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  

Emily is the daughter of Brian and Shane Pilarski.

Emily will receive a certificate suitable for framing, a history of the Award, and a T-shirt commemorating her achievement and she’ll also be a future guest on the Saturday Sportsline. 

Emily will also be eligible for our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Year Award later this Spring which carries with it a beautiful plaque and a college scholarship, compliments of WKVI and the Family of Tyler Roth.
