Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week 3/6/2021
Our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week for this week is Payton Cox, a member of the Boys Basketball Team at North Judson-San Pierre High School.
After the Bluejays showed growing pains in an up-and-down season, Payton helped lead his team into the Sectional Championship game with two outstanding games, running the point for the ‘Jays. In the opening game the 6’2 Junior showed poise under pressure, as the Bluejays edged Westville 60-58, with Cox scoring thirteen points, which included two three-point shots. In the Semifinal round he displayed great leadership by leading all scorers with twenty-two points, which included two three-pointers as well as hitting twelve of thirteen at the free-throw line. The Bluejays avenged an earlier eleven-point loss to LaVille with a 63-50 win in postseason play! Cox added three rebounds, two steals, and four assists to his contributions as the ‘Jays won their eighth game of the year. Payton is the son of Andrea and Kevin Cox.
Congratulations to Payton Cox of North Judson-San Pierre High School our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week!
