Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week 9/22/18
Our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week for this week is Russell Compton, a member of the Football Team at Winamac High School.
Russell had a spectacular game in his first start at quarterback for the Warriors in leading his team to a win over Culver. The freshman led an offense that was revamped after a lop-sided loss the week before, hitting 12-of-15 passes for 200 yards and 3 touchdowns. The effort highlighted the Warriors 41-24 win. The first year player distributed the ball in the air to five different receivers, breathing new life into an offense that had struggled to put points on the board in 4 of the previous 5 games.
Russell is the son of Chad and April Compton.
