Boilermaker Football On NBC Primetime Four Times This Season

As the Big Ten (https://bigten.org/sports/football) begins it’s gigantic media rights deal this football season, no other program will benefit more than Ryan Walters’ Purdue Boilermakers … at least if you are judging on featured NBC Primetime games.

Purdue will be featured on NBC’s Game of the Week four times in 2023.

No other Big Ten school will appear more than three times on NBC in primetime. Ohio State (twice during the conference season and at Notre Dame), Michigan and Wisconsin will be on three times each.

The Boilermakers’ first appearance on NBC Primetime will come at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 16 when Syracuse visits Ross-Ade Stadium.

At 7:30 p.m. Sept. 30 the Boilermakers will host Illinois under the lights. This matchup will pit Illinois head coach Bret Bielema against Walters, Illinois’ defensive coordinator last season.

A week later they will travel to Iowa City for a showdown with the Hawkeyes in primetime.

Then in November Purdue will face one of the best teams in the country when it meets Michigan in the Big House in Arbor. The Purdue-Michigan game will be a rematch of the 2022 Big Ten Championship Game in Indianapolis.

Purdue will have at least one other game under the lights this season when Wisconsin visits West Lafayette on Friday at 7 p.m. Sept. 22. That game will be televised by FS1.

Television assignments for two of the Boilermakers’ other games – Fresno State and Virginia Tech – have also been announced, but television for the other five regular-season games are still to be determined.

This will be the first time Purdue has three consecutive home games under the lights and the first time it has had four straight night games.

Purdue has had its games televised by NBC before when it played at Notre Dame, but never has had a football game shown during NBC Primetime.

Other than NBC, Big Ten football will be shown on CBS and Fox this season.
