Plymouth golfers headed to regional round

WARSAW — Plymouth’s golfers extended their season to the regional round with an overall second-place team finish in sectional action at Stonehenge Golf Course in Warsaw.
Team scores:
Warsaw-311, Plymouth- 324, Huntington North-333, Culver-336, Northfield-338, Wawasee-343, Tippecanoe Valley- 356, Manchester-370, Triton-385, Whitko- 433.
Dan Nguyen led the way for Plymouth hitting an 80 (par 72) for 18 holes. Caleb Harland and Easton Tapia were right behind with 81s, O’Malley Holm had an 82 and Ben Nguyen had an 89.
“I could not be more proud of this team,” said Plymouth coach Josh Troyer. “They played their best at the right time. Easton Tapia, our only Senior playing today, shot a career-best 81 and played such a solid round. Second place as a team in this difficult field is unreal. This is a tough Sectional in this part of the state. Again, I cannot express how proud I am of this team and how they brought it today.”
Plymouth will be in regional action on Thursday, again at Stonehenge in Warsaw with an 8 a.m. tee time.
