Lady Pilgrims clamp down on Rochester

PLYMOUTH — Plymouth’s girls varsity basketball team took a win over Rochester by a 35-25 final.
The Lady Pilgrims put on a defensive show, making every attempt for Rochester difficult and holding them 16 points under their average.
The defensive end was a total team effort. Tynley Gantz was “a dog” on the ball,” said Plymouth coach Micaela Schalliol. “In addition to Gantz, (Chloe) Horton, (Lena) Jones, and (Mady) Sullivan did a great job anticipating and collected a total of 8 steals and 12 deflections.”
Plymouth did a great job keeping Rochester off the offensive glass, limiting the Zebras to just two offensive rebounds, compared to their average of 9.
Sophie Miller and Chloe Horton led the charge on the offensive end. Horton connected on 4 triples in the first half and ended the night with 12 points and four rebounds. Miller was dominant in the paint working hard to get defenders on her back so she could finish at the rim. Miller led the way with 13 points and three rebounds.
The Lady Pilgrims are now 9-6 on the season and look to continue to get after it as they prepare for an NLC matchup on Saturday when they travel to Mishawaka for an afternoon start.
