Tyler Roth Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week 1-25-20

Kendal Johnson

Our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week for this week is Kendal Johnson, a member of the Girls Basketball team at Winamac Community High School.

Kendal led her team to an upset win over the favored North Judson-San Pierre Bluejays in a Hoosier North Athletic Conference matchup, that denied the 5th ranked Jays a shot at the Conference Championship. The 6’0 Sophomore is the leading scorer for the Lady Warriors and had an outstanding night on both ends of the court, scoring 17 points, pulling down 6 rebounds, coming up with 2 steals, hitting 4-5 at the free throw line, and accounting for three 3-pointers, as the Lady Warriors prevailed with a 42-30 win.

Kendal is the daughter of Kari and Kyle Johnson and also plays volleyball for the Lady Warriors. She is also a member of the Athletic Leadership Council, Sunshine Society, FFA, FCA, and is active in her church youth group.

Congratulations to Kendal Johnson of Winamac Community High School, our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week!

Kendal will receive a certificate suitable for framing, a history of the award, a t-shirt commemorating her achievement, and a free pizza compliments of Momma’s Pizzeria in Downtown Knox. She will also be a future guest on the Saturday Sportsline. She will also be eligible for our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Year award next Spring, which carries with it a beautiful plaque and a college scholarship compliments of WKVI, and the family of Tyler Roth.
