Two second-place finishes for Bremen swimmers

BREMEN — Bremen’s girls and boys finished second over the weekend at the first INSC swim meet the girls ended the meet with a score of 87, and the boys had 83.
The girls set the tone of the meet as they placed 1st by 10 seconds in the first race of the meet. The team of Sara Sahlhoff, Paisle Welborn, Hannah VanVuren, and Lyndsey Byrd swam the 200 Medley relay in 2:09.82 to become the first of several Conference Champions for the Bremen Ladies.
Lyndsey Byrd took the conference championship in the 200 IM with a time of 2:40.32, 14 seconds faster than the second-place finisher.
The Bremen Lady Lions dominated the 50 freestyle with Hannah VanVuren placing first (27.24) and Sara Sahlhoff placing 2nd (27.91).
Sophia Sahlhoff made the podium with a 3rd place swim in the 100y Freestyle (1:08.15)
Paisley Welborn and Izzy Wildauer finished 2nd (6:21.91)and 3rd (6:38.43) in the 500 freestyle.
Hannah VanVuren was the conference champion by 15 seconds in the 100 butterfly (1:06.24)
Sara Sahlhoff took the title in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:08.05.
Lindsey Byrd swam into 2nd place in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:25.49.
The Bremen Boys started the meet undermanned with several boys out with sickness and suffering a disqualification in the first race.
The 200 medley relay team of JanCarlo Deleon, Scott Wesner, Lincoln Heiter, and Graham Ferguson made the podium in 3rd place with a time of 2:18.89.
Blake Grove took a silver medal in the 50 freestyle, being out-touched with a time of 27.91.
Aaron Nettrouer had quite possibly the best race of the meet for Bremen in the 100 freestyle by breaking the 1-minute barrier with a time of 59.59 and giving the Lions 3 points. Earning 2 points with a 5th place finish was Grant Horner in a time of 1:09.07.
Sawyer Miller (5:48.95) and Nick Stiles (6:14.63) made the podium with their swims in the 500 freestyle.
Hunter Cannon had a second-place time of 1:05.53 and Sawyer Miller a third with 1:05.84, making the podium in the 100 butterfly with great swims.
The only conference champion on the boys’ side was Blake Grove in the 100 breastroke with a 1:07.49.
Bremen’s boys ended with a great swim in the 400 freestyle relay with a 4:28.87. The team of Nick Stile, Scott Wesner, Aaron Nettrouer, and Grant Horner gave the Bremen Boys six needed points.
