Argos girls grab a shutout win over Valley
ARGOS — The Argos Lady Dragons hosted the Tippecanoe Valley Lady Vikings Tuesday Night, taking a 6-0 shutout win.
The Dragons were quick to attack and capitalize early. Whitlee Singleton sent a cross into the box, and Elaina Conklin was on the other end to take a one-touch shot to put the Dragons up in the first minute of the game.
Conklin would pay it forward twice by slipping Samantha Umbaugh through the defensive line in the 2nd and 5th minutes to put Argos up 3-0.
Caylee Mason had a shot on goal turned away, but Kendyl Callahan was there to clean up the bouncing ball in the 15th minute.
Avarie Hines got in on the action by leading Avery Binfet, where she was able to beat the keeper on the near post in the 24th minute.
Finally, in the 35th minute, Emily Pippenger broke away from the defense and was one-on-one with the goalkeeper and slotted the ball to the post, scoring the final goal of the match.
Argos had numerous players with shots on frame, many bouncing off posts or just outside. The Dragons outshot the Vikings 25-4 and improved their record to 2-8-1. The Dragons will return to the road heading to Elkhart Christian on Thursday.
