Plymouth boys aced by Warsaw

PLYMOUTH — The Plymouth Boys Tennis Team hosted Warsaw at the Mary Beth Hunter Tennis Complex Thursday night, falling by a 5-0 final score to their NLC rival.
The Pilgrims couldn’t get much going on the scoreboards on the three singles courts, winning just one game in the three matches. The doubles matches were a little more competitive, but the Pilgrims ultimately fell in straight sets on both those courts as well.
“Once again, I thought we did some nice things tonight across all the courts, but we just have to be more consistent and show better decision-making on our shot selections at times,” said Plymouth coach Brad Haeck. “I thought all the singles players (Liam Hanyzewski, Jonah Rich, and Caleb Edmiston) showed some good things, despite what the scores say. Jonah probably played his best match since returning from injury. Liam played some really good defense in his match and had lots of rallies with several quality shots. And Caleb did some nice things as well.
“Our doubles teams showed promise as well. Both teams competed well with their opponents and could have been much closer matches if a few deuce games had gone our way.”
“Overall, we are improving each day and match,” he said. “We are trying to develop more consistency and confidence as the season moves forward.”
The Plymouth varsity travels to NorthWood on Tuesday for a 5:00 PM start.
