Plymouth heads on to NLC final round

The Plymouth Boys Tennis Team travelled to Northridge Thursday night to compete in the Second Round of the NLC Conference Tournament. Overall, the Pilgrims went 3-2 on the night.
Three Plymouth positions were victorious on the evening: 2S Jonah Rich (lost just one game), 3S Caleb Edmiston (lost zero games), and 1D Nick Manzuk-Owen Walleske (lost just one game). The Pilgrim 2D Team of Benson Prater-Landon Tyler fell in straight sets to the team from Wawasee.
In the longest match of the night, Plymouth 1S player Liam Hanyzewski fell in a long three set battle to his NorthWood opponent. Liam trailed 6-1, 3-0 before rallying off six straight games to force a third and deciding set. With Liam leading 2-1 in the third set, his opponent stepped up his game and took five of the final six games to end the highly competitive match.
1S Liam Hanyzewski will play for 7th Place Saturday, 2S Jonah Rich, 3S Caleb Edmiston, and 1D Nick Manzuk-Owen Walleske will play for 5th Place Saturday. 2D Benson Prater-Landon Tyler will receive a forfeit win at 2D over Mishawaka Saturday to finish in 7th Place.
“We took care of business at 2S, 3S, and 1D tonight, losing very few games on those courts,” said Plymouth coach Brad Haeck. “At both 2D and 1S, we had some chances to win some games that could have helped change the outcome, but we couldn’t quite get it done. Hoping we can compete and play well on Saturday and end our conference season on a positive note in the final round of the tourney.”
Plymouth will travel to Warsaw on Saturday for the Final Round of the NLC Conference Tourney, starting at 9:00 AM with the 5th and 7th Place Matches, followed by the 3rd Place Matches, and then the Championships last.
