Lady Chargers open with win

PLYMOUTH — The Marian University Ancilla Women’s Basketball team got its season underway Saturday afternoon, against Delta College, with the Chargers and Pioneers playing a tight first half but Ancilla taking a 72-58 win.
The 3rd quarter saw the Chargers extend their lead to 11 points by the period’s final buzzer, before ultimately knocking down free throws in the 4th quarter and outlasting the Pioneers.
The game was won at the free throw line, where Marian Ancilla made 25 of 32 tosses, while the Pioneers were just 10-24 from the charity stripe. Additionally, the Chargers assisted on 18 of their 21 field goals throughout the game.
The reigning MCCAA Western Conference Freshman of the Year, Sophomore forward Santana Eubanks, led the way for MUAC with 21 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals. Fellow Sophomores Aaliyah Keil (18 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds, 2 steals) and Annika Davis (16 points, 4 rebounds) were outstanding as well, as the Chargers moved to 1-0 on the young season.
