Plymouth girls pick up NLC win over Goshen
PLYMOUTH — The Plymouth Lady Pilgrims delivered an impressive all-around performance Saturday night, defeating Goshen in their first conference matchup of the season by a 58-39 final.
Plymouth’s offense clicked from the opening tip, connecting on 24 field goals—16 of which came off assists—as the team showcased ball movement and unselfish play. On the defensive end, Plymouth was equally sharp, applying constant pressure that forced Goshen into 35 turnovers.
The Lady Pilgrims’ collective intensity set the tone early and never let up. Chloe Horton led the way with 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 steals. Hayden Shipley provided steady production throughout the night with 12 points and 4 rebounds, while Lydia Wray controlled the tempo, filling the stat sheet with 8 points, 7 assists, and 6 steals, and Peyton Ellinger added 6 points to the balanced offensive effort.
Off the bench, Brooklyn Scruggs gave the Pilgrims a major boost, contributing 8 points and dominating the glass with 9 rebounds, helping Plymouth maintain control in key stretches.
In the JV contest, Plymouth took a 52-16 win.
Ella Murphy had a double/double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Miel Ramirez had five points and 12 rebounds. Schianna Sellers had eight points and five rebounds.
The JV is now 7-1.
Plymouth varsity is now 4-4 overall and 1-0 in the NLC.
