SOUTH BEND — A pitcher's duel turned into a slugfest as Triton was able to come from behind with four in the bottom of the seventh inning and take a 10-9 win over LaVille.
Triton starter Drew Bingamon had a masterful performance, going 6 and one-third innings, striking out five without walking a batter, scattering 12 hits along the way, allowing just two runs. LaVille starter Brayden Schwitz was up to the challenge, navigating nine Lancer errors and minimizing the damage, allowing six runs, just two of them earned. Neither would figure in the decision.
LaVille struck for seven runs in the top half of the seventh off two Triton relievers, to take their first and only lead of the game. Preston Eickleberry and Andre Gonzalez delivered two RBI hits for LaVille.
Triton then responded in the bottom half with four of their own, the game-winner a bad-hop base hit by Braxton Kaufman that scored Trey Tarlton with two outs.
