Our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week for this week is Lindsey Simpson, a member of the Girls Cross Country Team at Knox High School.

Lindsey helped spark her team to a Regional appearance as both the Redskin girls and boys teams advanced out of Sectional competition.  It was the first time in history that both teams advanced to Regional action in the same year.

Lindsey ended up in 11th place with a time of 22:40.29 on a cold, wet course at Rensselaer.  She was named the Runner of the Year in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference when she won the conference tournament with a time of 20:49 two weeks before.

Just a Junior, Lindsey was also named All-Conference in basketball as a Sophomore and is a 2-year letterwinner in track, as well.  She is the daughter of Rick and Geri Simpson.

Congratulations to Lindsey Simpson of Knox High School, our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week.

Lindsey will receive a certificate suitable for framing, a history of the Award and a T-shirt commemorating her achievement.

She’ll also be eligible for our Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Year Award next Spring, which carries with it a beautiful plaque and a college scholarship, compliments of WKVI and the Family of Tyler Roth.
