Lady Pilgrims take fourth straight

GOSHEN — Plymouth’s Lady Pilgrim softball team to their fourth straight win with a 5-2 final over Goshen in NLC play.

Rylee Mann had a pair of hits and Elsaya Bohm had a double and a pair of RBIs for the Pilgrims.

Kayla Johnson took the win going the distance with no walks and one strikeout.

“We came into a place where we haven’t won yet and pulled out a victory,” said Plymouth coach John Johnson. “The girls hung with Goshen until the 6th and we were able to get the lead and the defense did their job in the 6th and 7th innings for us to win.”

Plymouth is now 7-5 on the year and 3-1 in the NLC. They will be at home against Wawasee on Wednesday with a 5:30 p.m. start.

Lions shut out by St. Joe

BREMEN — St. Joe pitcher Berkley Zache stuck out 20 Lion hitters on Monday night at Pfeiffer Field en route to a no-hitter and a 6-0 victory over Bremen.

Delainey Neher was the only Lion batter to reach first base on a wind-aided pop-up error.

St. Joe jumped out to a 2-0 lead after two innings, and it remained that way until the 4th when Riley Zache hit a 3-run home run. Olivia Barsodi ended the scoring with a solo shot in the fifth.

Bremen is 6-4 on the year and 2-3 in NIC play. They will travel to Jimtown on Wednesday with a 5 p.m. start.

Argos loses to Elkhart Christian

ARGOS — Argos girl’s softball dropped a game to Elkhart Christian Academy on Saturday by a 14-9 final.

Ivy Stackhouse had a pair of hits and an RBI for Argos. Ava Stackhouse had a double. Lexi Schenkel took the loss on the mound.

Argos is now 3-6 on the year.

Triton tops BC

BOURBON – Braxton Kaufman pitched a three-hitter and Triton pounded 13 hits to defeat Bethany Christian, 9-2. Kaufman also led the offense with three hits (2B) and 3 RBIs. Drew Bingamon (3B, 3Rs), Zak Greer (2 RBIs), Brian Wescher, and Kohen Hensley had two hits apiece.

St. Joe holds off BHS

SOUTH BEND – Bremen (6-4, 2-2 NIC) fell to South Bend St. Joseph, 14-8. The Lions got off to a slow start, allowing seven runs in the first inning but rallied back, plating six of their own in the top of the 2nd. Sophomore Zack Buszkiewicz had a solid outing on the mound in relief going five innings and allowing only two earned runs. Silas Laidig led the offense, going 2-for-4 with a home run and 3 RBIs.

Triton goes 1-2

NORTH MIAMI – The Triton boys took first place and the girls second at the seven-team North Miami Warrior Relays. Highlights for the boys included Cam Callahan (6-0) and Cole Shively (5-8) both setting new PRs in the high jump. On the girl’s side, Avery Viers set a new PR in the high jump as well (5-3), just one inch away from tying a school record. Addyson Viers set a new PR in the discus (111-4).

Golf

Bremen third to St. Joe and Penn

PLYMOUTH — The Bremen boys golf team had a tough battle against Penn and St. Joe Monday shooting a third-place team score of 214 at Swan Lake. 

The Lion golfers faced some struggles throughout the course. Max Varner was able to lead the Lions with a 49. Collin Loomis improved his score by several strokes and shot his season’s best.

The Lions are back at it at Swan Lake on Wednesday with Jimtown and Washington.

Plymouth is seventh in invite

PLYMOUTH — Plymouth’s JV team hosted an invitational on Saturday and Pretty Lake Golf Club and came in seventh in the 17-team field.

Plymouth batters Goshen

PLYMOUTH — Plymouth’s JV baseball team hammered out 14 hits on the way to a 15-7 win over Goshen.

Ben Shively had a three-hit, two RBI performance, and Dominic Vasquez had a pair of hits one a triple. Drake Feece had a pair of hits, including a double and four RBIs in the game.

Grady Metsker struck out six and doubled in his own cause taking the win on the mound.
