Ancilla Soccer Splits Weekend Games

CICERO, IL & FINDLAY, OH- The Charger soccer team held a close game with Morton College on the road, eventually ending in a 3-3 tie; they would go on to achieve the shutout victory over Owens College 1-0 Sunday. This bring Ancilla’s Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) record to 6-2 and 15-3-1 overall.

On Saturday, the Chargers battled back from a 3-1 deficit against Morton College. Dayle Robertson earned his fourth hat trick of the year for Ancilla with assists coming from Zahir Martinez, Alex Engle and Andy Smith.

The Chargers bounced back Sunday for their road match-up with Owens Community College. Alex Engle posted the lone goal for the Chargers in concluding the 1-0 Ancilla victory.

Coach Hall commented, “We had a great game on Friday at Morton. We started the game with our bench players and found ourselves 3-1 down at halftime. We showed fantastic character to comeback, I believe Dayle Robertson notched his 4th hat trick of the year. Yesterday was a tough opponent at Owens. We really put in an excellent performance. Most notably Patrick Berg came up big in goal and Alex Engle with a great long shot to win the game. It’s been a great regular season. We have had great opportunities to prepare for playoffs. We will have to see how this week pans out for our final seeding.”

Ancilla will host their undisclosed opponents on Sunday, October 26, as they partake in the Region XII Quarterfinals. The Charger’s opponent and game time will be named at a later date.
