Defending State Champion Bluejays Scrimmage Tough John Glenn!

The North Judson San-Pierre Lady Bluejays are a year removed from their State Championship, and while a few key faces are missing off this year’s squad, there are a lot of familiar names back on the roster. “Actually, I think they did a lot better than I thought they would”, head coach Madi Fingerhut said. “I thought our defense was really good, I thought we were really good at controlling some hard hit balls”.

One of the returning members off of last year’s State Championship team is Senior Natalia Gebka. “I think our effort, we did really good” Gebka said. “I know sometimes our encouragement might be going down, and I try to help, have everyone smiling the entire time, but all we have to do is clean up some unforced errors and I think we’ll be good throughout the season”.

John Glenn Head Coach Taylor Kalucki was encouraged with her team’s performance against the defending State Champs, “I thought the energy for both teams was very good and very intense. We have seven seniors on our team, and I was very impressed with how they handled their last time around”.

A key member to this year’s Lady Falcons squad is Senior Julianne Wilk, who exhibited her overall athleticism from start to finish. “I thought they battled very well, and we competed well for our first scrimmage” Wilk said. “Our serve receive is definitely something we’ve been working on, and our hitter and setter connection, that definitely helped our game tonight”.

The Lady Bluejays’ season will get underway on August 21st, when they play host to Wheeler. The Lady Falcons will begin play on August 19th, when they host the Triton Lady Trojans.
