WKVI Game of the Week Features Culver At Winamac!

A big matchup this week in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference as the Winamac Warriors (1-4, 0-4) play host to the Culver Cavaliers (3-2, 1-2). The Warriors are looking to get back on the winning side of things as they have dropped their last two meetings to conference opponents LaVille and North Judson.

The Cavaliers have showed how explosive their run oriented offense can be in their three wins, as they are averaging 46.6ppg in those wins. Even in the two losses the Cavs have suffered this season, they were still able to put up 24 points against North Judson in week 1, and 14 points against Knox in week 3. “I think we know what we’ve got coming Friday” said Senior running back Zac Ditmire. “We have to come out, play with everything we got. They’re going to be big and physical” Ditmire continued, “we’ve got to play physical”.

Defense is going to be a major key for the Cavaliers as the Warriors are a multifaceted team that can burn a defense in an assortment of ways. Senior linebacker Hunter Lautt feels the secondary has improved the most for the Cavs during the first half of the season. “Definitely our DBs, our second level” Lautt said when asked where the team has improved the most. “We started out pretty rough, but are starting to get picks, we’re starting to get a lot of turnovers”.

The Cavs have been doing their best to stay focused throughout this week. “Practices have been really hard” Senior running back and defensive lineman Carter Stevens said. “Making sure we’re getting ready everything we can mentally and physically”.

“I think we all know what we have coming Friday” Senior running back and linebacker Zac Ditmire said. “They’re going to be big and physical, we’ve got to play physical”.

After exploding for 62 points in a week three matchup at North White, the Warriors have only been able to get 13 points on the board in the last two weeks. Head Coach Craig Barr is hoping this week brings about a change in the Warriors’ fortune. “You remember what you do against a Knox, North Judson, and Culver” Barr said on the Saturday Sportsline. “Our kids will be ready to go” Barr continued, “our coaches will be ready to go, if we go on a run, people look back and say ‘hey, they were just building all those different things’.”

It’s going to be an exciting night at Winamac this Friday, and you will be able to hear all the action on K99.3!
