Post 27 overruns Kokomo

PLYMOUTH – Plymouth’s Post 27 avenged a loss over the weekend to Kokomo Post 6 in a big way with a 12-0 five-inning win at Bill Nixon Field on Wednesday night.

Plymouth was in complete control from first to last pitch with Preston Wolfe taking command on the mound with a dominating performance. The Plymouth right-hander gave up four hits, walked one, and struck out six in five innings of work. Only one Kokomo baserunner got as far as third base.

“Preston on the mound was really big for us,” said Post 27 coach Clayton Adamson. “We got some good at-bats coming off a tough one on Sunday with Kokomo so it was good to see our guys come out and play well.”

Kokomo struggled on the mound from the start giving up six in the first, five more in the second, and a final run in the third, and couldn’t stop the Plymouth running game, as the Spyders swiped seven bases on the night. Preston Jessen, Tre Jordan, and Parker Wolfe each had a pair of steals on the night.

With the game never in doubt, Post 27 never lost focus and Adamson was able to get some big playing time up and down the bench.

“I think a bunch of these guys have played in close games so getting some guys out there to play in key positions as we head towards the tournament was big for us,” he said. “It gives them a chance to see what they can do, maybe find something that they never knew that they could do before. Getting everybody at-bats at this point is really important.”

Plymouth will be in action again tonight with South Bend Post 151 at Bill Nixon Field with a start time of 6 p.m.

“We feel pretty good about where we are at,” said Adamson. “We have a big one tomorrow against South Bend and we’re looking forward to getting into tournament play.”
