Argos turns to Triton assistant to lead its hoops program
Former Tippecanoe Valley High School basketball standout Nick Kindig is taking over the Argos boys basketball program.
Kindig inherits Jason Breden’s program that went 42-27 the last three seasons.
Breden departed Argos to become Knox High School’s boys basketball head coach.
Kindig will inherit a team that returns four starters, but leading scorer Sean Richard graduated.
This will be Kindig’s first head coaching job. He spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Triton High School. Previously Kindig was an assistant at his alma mater.
Kindig, graduated from Bethel College in Mishawaka, was quite the player for the Vikings, scoring more than 1,250 points during his prep career. He led Tippy in scoring in 2013, averaging 18.7 points per game, helping the Vikings capture the 2013 sectional title with a 20-4 record.
Kindig’s father, Chris, was the long-time Tippy girls head basketball coach. Chris Kindig resigned following the 2023-24 season.
Argos last won a sectional championship in boys basketball in 2019.
