Local wrestlers head to semi-state round
Wrestlers from Glenn, Bremen, and Plymouth will move on to the semi-state round of the IHSAA tournament.
As a team of 7, the Bremen Lions finished 7th at the regionals at Rochester.

Bremen results:
106 – Cole Thomas dropped his first-round match finishing his freshman-year campaign with a record of 14-9
113 – Nic Slusser wins his first round by fall. Qualifying him for next week’s semi-state. Nic teched his semi-final round. And he made his way to the finals where he would face a strong opponent from Mishawaka. Nic lost in the championship match.
120 – Colin Moats wins his first round by fall. Winning his first round qualifies him for semi-state. He lost the semi-final match. Colin won his last match of the day, placing 3rd.
126 – Raylon Moats lost his first-round match and finished his sophomore season with a record of 28-9.
165 – Dylan Goff lost his first-round match to the later weight-class champion. This makes him a semi-state alternate. Dylan’s record on the year is 19-13.
175- Derek Miller drops his first-round match to the later weight class champion. Derek will be an alternate for semi-state. Derek’s record on the season is 23-16.
215- Logan Frederickson wins his first round by fall. Punching his ticket to semi-state. Logan lost his last two rounds giving him 4th place.
The Glenn Falcons sent three wrestlers to the always-tough Crown Point Regional on Saturday.
Kyle Hudgen lost to his opponent from Hanover Central 17-2. Kyle finishes his freshman season with a record of 20-6.
At 126 lbs. Senior Brody King picked up a big first-round win over Hunter Mallory from Lowell High School with a Fall in 2:22. In the Semi-final round he was matched against the #1 ranked wrestler and IU commit Gavin Jendreas of Crown Point. Wrestling hard but lost by tech fall 16-1, putting him in the consolation bracket for 3rd place. In that match he faced Cryderman from Hanover Central, winning by Major Decision 10-2. Moving his record to 33-3 on the season.
Walter Drews at 138lbs. was matched up with another tough Hanover Central wrestler, picking up the win by Major Decision 18-4. Punching his ticket to his 3rd semi-state. In his Semi-Final match, he drew #1 ranked Evan Stanley from Lowell, who won by fall. In the Consolation match for 3rd place, Walt wrestled Sonny Sessa from Crown Point, and lost that match by major decision 14-1, placing him 4th for the day with a season record of 34-8 on the season.
Three Plymouth wrestlers move on from Saturday’s regional. Coeen Kraemer took a second place and Chris Firebaugh and Braxton White were regional champions.
The qualifiers are in action on Saturday at the East Chicago Semi-state.
