WALKERTON – The boys’ track and field team participated in the Indiana Northern State Conference championships Wednesday at John Glenn High School.
Led by three event champions, LaVille finished in a solid second place. Bremen claimed six event titles and accumulated 146 points to win the inaugural INSC boys’ track and field championship.
LaVille’s Lance Edison, Ryan Maenhout, and Dylan Miller turned in fine performances to pick up first-place medals.
Bremen swept through the middle and long distance races, with Dylan Goff winning the 400m, Luke Kincaid then taking three in a row in the 800m, 1600m, and 3200m.
Kincaid and Goff then added some more first-place runs with Goff as part of the 4×400 relay and Kincaid as part of the 4×800.
In the 300-meter hurdles, Edison and Bremen’s Blake Grove raced to the finish line before closing out a listed 41.996 seconds flat to edge Grove by less than 0.001 seconds. Grove was clocked at 41.997.
At the pole vault, LaVille’s Ryan Maenhout successfully cleared 11 feet to earn the title. Fellow Lancer teammate Avery Garrett tied at 10 feet with Bremen’s Jack Kincaid for second.
The long jump pit was also competitive, with LaVille’s Dylan Miller and Knox’s Blake Bradley working for the top spot. Miller hit for a leap of 19-feet, 11.5-inches to nip Bradley, who finished at 19′-7.5 inches for second.
First-place finishers all earned All-INSC first-team honors.
