CULVER — Freshman sailor Sienna Jones has qualified to represent Team Bahamas at the 2025 ILCA 6 Youth World Championship, which will take place this summer in Los Angeles.
Known for her poise and determination on the water, Jones has extensive experience in single-handed sailing. She has competed internationally in the ILCA 4 Youth and Optimist classes, participating in World, European, and North American championships.
This will be her first World Championship in the ILCA 6, which is the Olympic-class single-handed dinghy for women. This achievement marks a significant personal milestone in her sailing career.
Since joining Culver Sailing, Jones has continued to develop as a versatile sailor. She has transitioned into the double-handed 420 class, embracing the challenges of teamwork, communication, and strategic collaboration. She has had a great start, contributing to the Culver Sailing team’s victory at the 2024 Midwest Interscholastic Sailing Association (MISSA) Girls Championship.
“It’s a great honor to be able to represent your home country on the world stage,” sailing coach Sean Palizza said. “She has worked hard, and we are all incredibly proud and excited to support her as she competes among the world’s top youth sailors.”
