Four game series with Lansing closes 2025 season

DONALDSON — This past weekend saw the conclusion of the 2025 Marian University Ancilla Baseball season, as they played two games Saturday at home against the Lansing Stars, then traveled to Lansing on Sunday for another double-header. The MCCAA Western Division leading Stars swept the series, winning 11-0, 4-2, 12-2, and 7-1, but the Chargers showed marked improvement from earlier in the season.

GAME-1 (Lansing 11, MUAC 0): Lansing was able to jump out early and maintain a consistent effort offensively and defensively in this 5-inning affair. For the Chargers, Freshmen Aayden AntoineCaden Taylor, and Kaleb Short each singled to account for all 3 Charger hits. Short also stole a base in this one.

GAME-2 (Lansing 4, MUAC 2): This was the best effort by the Chargers, as they were in it until their last at-bat. Lansing scored 2 in the top of the 1st, but the Chargers answered immediately with a run in the bottom of the inning. Lansing then added a run in the 2nd and 3rd innings, and it was 4-1 Stars. The Chargers picked up their 2nd run in the bottom of the 4th, but the remainder of the game was scoreless.

Sophomore Blaze Schultz had a pair of hits, including a double, and he drove in one of the Marian Ancilla runs. Freshman Jaxson Hixson had a single and drove in the other Charger run, while Freshman Wes McNeff and Sophomore Traevyn Shoaf picked up the other 2 hits for MUAC. Freshman Dylan Ford pitched 3 scoreless innings in relief, allowing just 2 hits, no walks, and striking out 3 batters.

GAME-3 (Lansing 12, MUAC 2): In Sunday’s opener, it was Marian Ancilla who plated the first run in the top of the 2nd inning. The Stars answered with a run in the bottom of the 2nd and the bottom of the 3rd, but it was their 10-run 4th inning that doomed the Chargers. Marian Ancilla did pick up a second run in the top of the 5th inning, but by then it was too late. Freshman Aiden Marcus was 2-for-2 with a double, while Jaxson Hixson and Freshman Jose Paris each singled and drove in one of the MUAC runs. Aayden Antoine also had a single and scored a run in this one.

GAME-4 (Lansing 7, MUAC 1): In the finale, once again it was the Chargers claiming a 1-run lead early and holding it until the bottom of the 5th inning. Lansing then answered with 5 in the bottom of the 5th and 2 in the bottom of the 6th for the 7-1 final score. Freshman Logan Clark singled in the lone runner, Traevyn Shoaf. Shoaf also singled and stole a base. Aiden Marcus added the other hit for Marian Ancilla, as they finish their 2025 campaign 5-38 (0-25 in MCCAA).
