Plymouth team falls to Crown Point
CULVER — Plymouth’s doubles team of Marley Christy and Emma Jackson traveled to Culver Academy on Thursday to participate in an Individual Doubles Sectional Match against the top doubles team from Crown Point.
After winning the first game of the match, Plymouth lost seven straight games before making the match more competitive in the second set. At 2-3 in set number two, Plymouth had a chance to get the match to 3-3, but fell in that deuce game and then lost the next two games for the straight set defeat.
Marley and Emma owned an early-season straight-set win over Crown Point, but one of their Thursday opponents was moved from singles to #1 Doubles (after the first meeting) to strengthen their team.
It was a tough night for the Pilgrim team, but Marley and Emma finished their Senior tennis season with a record of 19-4 together at the top doubles spot for Plymouth.
“This was a rough night, as we were unable to get much going and gain any momentum,” said Coach Brad Haeck. “I’ve watched Crown Point’s 1D team play four times this season, and this is easily the best I’ve seen them play. We did some good things and played some quality points, but we couldn’t string enough points together with consistency. Despite the loss, Marley and Emma had a great season at 1D.”
