Plymouth opens NLC tourney
MIDDLEBURY — The Plymouth Boys Tennis Team travelled to Northridge Wednesday night to compete in the First Round of the NLC Conference Tournament. Overall, the Pilgrims went 0-5 on the evening, playing against one #1 Seed and four #2 Seeds in their individual brackets. Three Plymouth positions won more games against their opponents on Wednesday than they previously did in their regular season matchups: 2S Jonah Rich, 3S Caleb Edmiston, and 2D Benson Prater-Landon Tyler. 1S Liam Hanyzewski and 1D Nick Manzuk-Owen Walleske had the same or similar results Wednesday to their regular season matchups, and both positions played admirably against strong foes playing really good tennis Wednesday.
“Despite going winless in the First Round of the Conference Tourney, I thought we had a good night overall and certainly have some positives to build on for the rest of this tournament,” said Plymouth coach Brad Haeck. “The draws didn’t do us many favors in our first-round matchups. Collectively, we competed well against strong opponents across the board and won more games overall than in the previous matchups. We are continuing to focus on improvement each night, and we saw some good things today. I’m excited to see what we can accomplish in the rest of this tournament.”
Plymouth will travel to Northridge on Thursday for the Second Round of the NLC Conference Tourney, starting around 4:00 PM.
