Lady Lions wrestle at Rochester

ROCHESTER — The Lady Lions traveled to Rochester. The Lions again were one of the smallest teams among larger teams and ended up 23rd in team standings. All three ladies won a match today.
McKenzie Scott had a bye in the first round, then dropped her second-round match. She then won her next round by forfeit. McKenzie then pinned her round 4 opponent. She then found herself in 7th place. McKenzie wrestled hard but ultimately came up short. She took 8th place.
Makenzie Shumaker had a bye first round. Round 2, she won by fall in 14 seconds. Round 3, Makenzie wrestled a Crown Point wrestler and won by fall in the first period. She then wrestled a familiar opponent in Plymouth to advance to the finals. Shumaker had a slow start in the match but was able to end the match with a fall. Makenzie advanced to the finals against a strong opponent from Twin Lakes. Makenzie came away with a 9-5 win.
Kayleanna Moser had a bye first round. She won her second-round match by fall. Moser then faced the number 6-ranked girl in the state from Warsaw. Kayleanna lost that match. She then wrestled a tough Peru wrestler and came up short.
All the girls had some great matches. The Lady’s are back in action on Friday at Columbia City.
