Plymouth chooses Scheetz to lead girls basketball program

PLYMOUTH — Plymouth High School has selected Geoff Scheetz as the next head coach of the Lady Pilgrims girls basketball program, pending approval by the Plymouth Community School Corporation Board of Trustees at its April 7, 2026, meeting.
Scheetz brings more than a decade of coaching experience and strong ties to the Plymouth community. Most recently, he spent the past two seasons as a varsity assistant with the Lady Pilgrims program.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to lead the Lady Pilgrims basketball program in this next chapter,” Scheetz said. “This program has a strong tradition of success that we are excited to build upon. We will be focusing on establishing a team culture centered around building strong relationships and a great competitive spirit. We have a great group of girls ready to put in the work necessary to compete at a high level.”
Scheetz previously spent 10 seasons on the boys basketball staff at Plymouth High School, serving five years as a varsity assistant, three years as the junior varsity coach, and two years at the freshman level. During that time, he was part of coaching staffs that helped guide Plymouth to sectional championships in 2010 and 2013.
He also spent five seasons as a varsity assistant at Culver Military Academy, contributing to one of the most successful stretches in the program’s history. During his tenure, the team captured four sectional titles, two regional championships, two semi-state appearances, a state runner-up finish, and the 2018 state championship.
A lifelong member of the Plymouth community, Scheetz was born and raised in Plymouth and graduated from Plymouth High School in 2005. As a student-athlete, he was a three-year varsity basketball player under Hall of Fame coach Jack Edison and was a member of the 2005 state runner-up team. Scheetz also competed as a three-year varsity soccer player and two-year varsity baseball player during his time at Plymouth.
Following high school, Scheetz continued his basketball career at Huntington University from 2005 to 2009 while earning a degree in elementary education. Scheetz has been an educator within the Plymouth Community School Corporation since 2010 and currently serves as the physical education teacher at Webster and Jefferson Elementary Schools.
“After an extensive search since early February, our committee is pleased to announce the hiring of Geoff Scheetz to lead our girls’ basketball program,” Plymouth Athletic Director Josh Troyer stated. “Geoff is committed to being a great leader for the program and has shown great pride in Plymouth Athletics. We look forward to seeing how he helps all of our girls grow both on and off the court to be the best they can be in the future.”
Scheetz is the son of Greg and Betty Scheetz and is the father of two children, Laci (11) and Griffyn (7). With deep roots in the Plymouth community and extensive coaching experience, Scheetz will look to guide the Lady Pilgrims program into its next chapter.
