Lady Lions swept in a doubleheader

MIDDLEBURY — The Bremen Lady Lion Softball team traveled to Middlebury for a doubleheader on Saturday.
The host team took advantage of a 3 errors and plated two runs in the bottom of the first. The Lions countered in the top of the 2nd with 4 runs on 4 hits and 2 free passes. The Lions manufactured a run in the 3rd, while the Raiders added one in the bottom of the 4th. Northridge added 3 in the 5th and two in the 6th to take an 8-5 lead.
The Lions reduced that deficit, plating 2 runs in the top of the 7th with Eliana Grubbs leading off with a double, Isabella Calentine single, and a clutch hit by Peyton Johnson. The Lions failed to plate Johnson, and the Raiders took game one 8-7.
Grubbs had a pair of hits, including a double. Calentine & Johnson each had two hits. Mady Milleman & Johnson had singles for the Lions.

In game two at Northridge, the Lady Lion Softball team struggled at the plate, collecting only 2 hits with 9 strikeouts. On the other side of the diamond, Columbia City’s bats were hot, earning 11 hits in the 5- inning win.
Eliana Grubbs suffered the loss from the circle, but did lead the game off with a double. Her battery mate, Makenzie Shumaker, added a 5th inning single for the two lone hits the Lions could muster up
