Vivy Miller shatters school record at Princess Relays
MISHAWAKA — Vivy Miller beat the Plymouth school record in the 3200 by 13 seconds as Plymouth’s girls track team ran in the Princess Relays in Mishawaka.
In the shuttle hurdle relay, the team took 6th place on the day. The sprint medley quartet of Jersey Hunter, Eva Macey, Alana Allen, and Ryleigh Schadek was next up on the track. They finished in the race of the night as they finished in 2nd place to Crown Point. Their time was #2 all-time, .43 off the school record.
Next up was our 3200m relay with a twist, each team has two runners run the 3200m run and combine their times for the relay. Vivy Miller and Jenna Blake both earned PRs on the day as each took off 31 seconds from their previous best.
In the 4x100m, the team of Ava Lloyd, Haileigh Olivarez, Kathryn Morrison, and Denisse White garnered 7th place. Up next was our 4x200m squad of Lizbeth Gomez, Iyani Terrones, Bri Butcher, and Denisse White, who also earned a 7th-place finish on the evening.
As the sun started to set, the Distance Medley foursome of Lauren Gurtner, Ryleigh Schadek, Taylor Schadek, and Brooklyn Scruggs ran the program’s #2 all-time mark while earning 4th place in an elite distance field.
Finally, the 4x400m relay marked the conclusion of the running events on the night. The team of Vivy Miller, Bri Butcher, Lizbeth Gomez, and Denisse White took 6th place.
In the field events, the shot put duo of Ava Lloyd and Daisy Van Meter finished in 6th place. The discus tandem of Marissa Kmiatek and Cordelia Cofer secured 4th place on the day. At high jump, Jersey Hunter and Amyra Benchaar jumped to a 2nd place tie as both cleared 4 ’10”.
In the long jump competition, Jersey Hunter leapt to the #3 all-time jump for the program with a jump of 16’ 11.25”, and Kathryn Morrison went over 15 feet for the third straight meet. The jumping duo earned a huge 2nd-place finish. Finally, we moved to the pole vault venue, the dynamic duo of Bella Walters and Haileigh Olivarez both cleared 8 feet again and earned a big 1st place tie in a pretty solid field of vaulters!
Next Contest: Tuesday, May 5th, the team will travel to Northwood to also compete against Goshen in the NLC double dual meet of the regular season. Field events start at 5:30 pm, while running events kick off with the 4x800m relay at 6pm. After that, the Lady Pilgrims will travel back to Northwood again on Saturday to run at the JV NLC meet.
