Chargers Open with Fan Appreciation Night

DONALDSON, IN – The Ancilla men’s and women’s basketball teams will open the 2014-2015 season at home next Saturday for Fan Appreciation Night.

All fans will receive free access into both the women’s 3:30 p.m. start and the men’s 5:30 p.m. start as they host the Warriors of Indiana Tech.

The men’s team, which recorded their most successful Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) conference season in school history last year, looks to carry their successes into this upcoming season. Head coach Aaron Butcher plans to not only repeat another successful year, but sees bigger steps ahead for his team, “We had a good season last year and will take another big step this year. We have had several NCAA Division I programs in this fall recruiting some of our players. This year is a great opportunity for the community to see the same players play at Charger Arena that they will be watching on TV in a year or two.”

Women’s head coach, Tom Robbibns, begins his first season as the Lady Charger’s head coach, transitioning from his role as the assistant coach for the men’s program last season. As for his expectations upon starting the season next Saturday, he quotes, “We have great expectations for the season and this is an opportunity for the community to see us before we become big news.”

The women recently finished their preseason schedule with a win on the road against Indiana Tech. Looking ahead; the men go on the road to finish their preseason schedule with games on October 25th, at Midwest Elite Prep, and the 28th as they travel to Holy Cross College.

Ancilla College, part of The Center at Donaldson, offers 18 Associate’s Degree and eight athletic programs. Since 1937, the College has been a sponsored ministry of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ and is located two miles south of US 30 on Union Road near Plymouth, Indiana.
