CMA loses despite improving over Guerin Catholic

Johnny Swidan rushed for 138 yards and 1 TD on 26 carries to lead Guerin Catholic. Quarterback Matt Labus was 8-of-14 for 105 yards and 3 TDs with an interception.

Jakob Young led CMA with 36 yards on 10 carries.  David Pumarejo had 33 yards on 9 carries, but quarterback Jesse Brownfield was sacked 6 times for a -49 yards.  Pumarejo led the receivers with 3 catches for 24 yards.

CMA Coach Andy Dorrell stated his team played very despite the loss.

“We are almost healthy overall.  This game has been the closest.  I know the score doesn’t indicate as though we played that well, the fact is “we did””.   “I was very proud of the effort given by my kids.  They beginning to gel on both sides of the ball.  We just ran into a better team than us right now.  But when we have everyone back this week….I really feel good about our Sectional opportunities.”, he added.

CMA (3-6) will face Tippy Valley (1-8) in the first round of the Sectionals.
