Lions take third straight INSC title

LAKEVILLE – Bremen Boys’ Soccer traveled to Newton Park for a rematch of their 2-1 loss to LaVille on Tuesday earlier in the week and came away with a 3-1 win in the INSC title game.

Bremen Juniors Alex Gallegos and Alan Barrera combined for the first goal in just 7 minutes. The intensity continued throughout the first half with both teams creating opportunities to score, but Bremen took the 1-0 lead into half time.

The Lions maintained their focus into the second half and increased the pressure to force turnovers and scoring opportunities. Just three minutes into the second half, the boys earned a corner kick. Alex Gallegos again created an assist to fellow Junior Giovany Gallegos sending a ball far post that the centerback headed into the back of the net. Only four minutes later, Alex would get a goal of his own, stealing a ball at the top of the 18 and then putting it past the LaVille keeper.

LaVille, riding a nine game winning streak, made numerous pushes toward the end of the 2nd half and got a goal through a penalty kick, but the Lions held strong and finished as the INSC Tourney and Conference Champions for the third consecutive season.
