8-15-2020 Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week
Our first Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the week for the 2020-21 season is Megan Kobelt, a member of the Girls Golf Team at John Glenn High School.
Megan helped get her team off to a great start in the tough Northern Indiana Conference with consistent rounds the first two meets. She shot a 39 to tie for medalist honors as the Falcons shot a 182 to edge South Bend St. Joe with 191 and New Prairie with a 193.
She came back with a 45 to lead the Falcons round of 201, which led to wins over South Bend Clay and South Bend Riley.
With little rest, Megan shot an 83 in the NorthWood Invitational on the tough McCormick Creek course which put her 10th in a field of 85 golfers on 17 teams.
Just a Junior, Megan is in her third year as a #1 or #2 player for the Falcons who are expecting an outstanding season after advancing to the Regional the last 2 seasons.
Megan is the daughter of Clay and Roxann Kobelt and will be featured next week here on the “Saturday Sportsline”.

Megan will receive a certificate suitable for framing, a history of the award and a T-Shirt commemorating her achievement. She’ll also be eligible for our “Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Year “ award next Spring which carries with it a beautiful plaque and a college scholarship, compliments of WKVI and the Family of Tyler Roth.
