Marshall/Starke Special Olympics makes state

WESTFIELD — Special Olympics Marshall and Starke counties just completed their first season of cornhole
In all 39 athletes participated in cornhole this year’s competition this year and 10 of these athletes competed in the State EKS Competition. They were coached by Dave and Angie Banicki.
EKS State Cornhole competitions were held at Grand Park in Westfield.
Marshall/Starke brought home divisional gold medals with Brittney Riffle and Asher Short, along with Ryan Robbins and Marcy Unternahrer in their respective divisions.
Lots of practice, dedication, determination, and teamwork all played huge factors in the results of Sunday’s games. A total of 974 athletes and unified partners were scheduled to compete at the competition on Sunday and each of the Marshall/Starke athletes brought home a medal or ribbon.
Marshall and Starke Special Olympics had thank you’s for their season to the Plymouth Park Department and Church of the Heartland in Plymouth for making this season possible.
