Lions, Rockies battle to tie
BREMEN — In a rematch of last year’s thriller, Bremen and Plymouth’s boys soccer teams battled to a 1-1 tie at Bremen on Monday night.
A year ago, the Lions took a 3-2 victory at Plymouth, and the teams had played once in a summer match-up with Plymouth taking a 2-0 victory.
With a large crowd supporting both sides, the draw could have ended with either team claiming victory. Plymouth applied pressure throughout the first half, but Bremen goalie Andy Miranda was equal to the task, even stopping a penalty kick.
Bremen turned up the intensity in the second half, but both teams were slowed down by long stoppages that hurt the flow of the game.
“A tough game to start the season,” said Plymouth coach Jesus Jimenez Garcia. “Bremen plays hard and defends hard. Mistakes in the attack killed us. We had multiple chances to put the game away. Unfortunately, the ball didn’t go our way, and we ended with a tie. We’ll build on this and go into Argos on Wednesday looking for our first win.”
Bremen is now 0-1-1 and will take part in the NorthWood Invitational on Saturday.
Plymouth is 0-1.
