MISHAWAKA – The girls’ high school soccer team got off to a slow start and fell 4-1 against Mishawaka on Tuesday at Baker Park.
MHS scored in the seventh minute to take the early lead. Both teams battled for much of the half before the Cavemen scored two goals inside three minutes to pull away.
Grace McBride netted the LaVille goal in the 78th minute for the final margin.
The 16th-ranked Lancers move to 4-2 overall and are set to begin a four-match homestand and open Indiana Northern State Conference play. On September 4, the Lancers will face INSC foe Tippecanoe Valley. A local rivalry against Plymouth on September 6 is followed by two more conference matches. Jimtown and Bremen pay a visit to Newton Park on September 9 and September 11, respectively.
