CULVER — Elsie Newton is a three-year senior and member of the Culver Girls Academy cheerleading team, and has been named Student-Athlete of the Month for her leadership, spirit, and commitment to her team and school community.
Coach Amy Berry described Newton as an outstanding example of leadership, dedication, and positivity, who consistently arrives first to practice and is always ready to support her teammates.
“Elsie approaches every day with a smile and an uplifting attitude, creating an environment where others feel encouraged and valued,” Berry said.
In a season marked by change, Newton has remained a steady and inspiring presence.
“Elsie has embraced the recent changes within our team with grace and optimism, helping others adjust and keeping morale high,” Berry said. “She leads with dignity, kindness, and integrity, setting the tone for her peers and modeling what it means to be both an athlete and a role model.”
CGA counselor Elizabeth Birsner also praised Newton, calling her someone who consistently sets the example and holds others accountable.
Newton’s influence extends well beyond athletics. She currently serves as the communications prefect in Atrium and continues to pursue opportunities for personal and academic growth, most recently participating in the Ball State Honors Orchestra program.
“She truly embodies the spirit, values, and leadership that Culver represents,” Berry said.
