Lancers come back for a win

LAKEVILLE – LaVille overcame a sluggish second quarter by outscoring Whitko by 13 points to pick up a 49-43 victory in high school basketball.
Lance Edison and Liam Amor led the LaVille offense with 16 and 15 points, respectively. Edison scored all of his points in the second half, including 11 points, as the Lancers doubled up the Wildcats 22-11 to take the lead.
Edison opened the third stanza with eight quick points as the Lancers took the lead.
Amor, who scored 11 of his points in the second half, hit several crucial shots in the second half to keep LHS in the lead until the final horn.
“Both Liam and Lance had good 2nd halves for us on the offensive end,” said LaVille Coach Michael Edison. “We needed every bucket. We also had several guys who played very good defense and had big rebounds for us.”
Andre Gonzales added seven points, six steals, and five assists, while Edison and Braedyn Foster hauled in seven rebounds each.
The Lancers improved to 14-8 overall and will return to the court on February 24 against South Bend Washington. The junior varsity is set to tip at 6pm, with the varsity to follow.
