Bremen track and field competes at Indiana Tech
FT. WAYNE — The Bremen Track and Field teams had their first meet of the season on Saturday, competing at the Bulldog Invite hosted at Indiana Tech Warrior Park in Fort Wayne.
The girls had tied for first the previous year and competed well again this year with a 3rd place team finish out of 18 teams. Many athletes returning from last year’s team brought experience and poise, while a few new faces added to the team’s success. The Bulldog Invite is a qualifying meet for the State Indoor Finals (Hoosier State Relays) on March 28.
For the girls:
— Sophomore Skylee Feathers had a great jumping day, clearing 5’, which currently ties her for 16th place in the state high jump qualifying.
— Senior sprinter Emma Kincaid had a personal best in the 60m dash with a time of 8.23, currently putting her in a tie for 21st position in state qualifying.
— The 4×200 relay team of Sara Sahlhoff, Kate Kincaid, Sienna O’Connor, and Emma Kincaid is currently qualifying for the state meet in 15th place with a time of 1:51.91.
— The 4×400 relay team is currently ranked as the #5 team in the state with a blazing time of 4:15.68. That relay is composed of Sara Sahlhoff, Lola Bender, and Kate and Emma Kincaid.
For the boys:
— Senior pole vaulter Caleb McClaid placed first overall in the competition with a vault of 12’’0”, which has him tied for 12th overall in the state indoor competition.
— The boys 4×800 relay team of Joseph Davis, Jack Kincaid, Lincoln Yoder, and Ben Brady finished 5th overall with a converted indoor time of 8:56.75, good enough to currently sit 20th overall in the state indoor competition.
— Freshman Josue Pepin Lizardo had a great 60-meter dash, clocking a 7.47, placing him at 14th overall and as the only freshman competitor to place in the top 25 sprinters.
