Knox, LaVille change in football, South Central in four-class sports in IHSAA re-classification

INDIANAPOLIS — The enrollment totals and classifications of IHSAA member schools, which will be used for state tournaments in the next two school years, have been announced by the Indiana High School Athletic Association.
Locally, the only changes were South Central moving to 2A in all the four class sports. In football, with Knox competing in 2A next year, dropping from 3A a year ago, LaVille will compete in 2A, a jump from 1A last year.
The enrollment figures, the total number of boys and girls in grades 9-12, were submitted by the
schools to the Indiana Department of Education, and are used to determine the classifications in
the team sports of baseball, boys’ and girls basketball, football, boys’ and girls soccer, softball, and girls volleyball, for the next two school years.
Committee meetings made up of school administrators from around the state will be conducted to
make the sectional assignments. Their final recommendations will be presented to the IHSAA
Executive Committee for its approval on May 5.
