Lions take win over tough Trinity
BREMEN — The Bremen Lions welcomed Trinity Academy for the second home night game of the season in program history and came away a 2-1 winner.
The matchup on paper looked tight statistically and proved to be just that throughout the game. Physical and fast back-and-forth play marked the beginning of the game, but the Lions struck early on with a beautiful corner kick from Joel Gonzalez, finished by Gio Gallegos on the back post.
The teams would continue to fight for possession throughout the first half, with Bremen entering half-time up 1-0.
The second half continued to be a battle with both teams trying to find a way to gain an advantage. It was another set piece that allowed the Lions to find a second goal as Gio Gallegos sent in a deep free kick that challenged the Trinity keeper and was pushed over the line by Nathan Schnaible.
Trinity would pull one back about 10 minutes later on a deep free kick of their own. The remaining six minutes were intense, but Bremen stayed focused and fought to finish out the win.
