Ancilla Volleyball defeat Morton
PLYMOUTH, IN – The Ancilla College volleyball team defeated Morton College at home Tuesday night, with scores of 25-23, 19-25, 25-14, 21-25, 15-7.
Offensively, the Lady Chargers were led by sophomore Sophia Smith, who had 13 kills followed by Jill Brown who had 11. Jackie Friel dished out 28 assists and Maddie Price added 10. Smith and fellow sophomore Maddie Korra led the team in aces with two apiece.
Defensively, freshman Natalee Walters had 27 digs followed by Smith’s 16. Samantha Brennaman added two block solos to the defensive cause.
Coach Singleton had these comments, “Natalee Walters did a great job defensively for us tonight and Sophia Smith had another solid showing both offensively and defensively. Maddie Korra really stepped up at some key times and made some key serves and passes, I was very proud of her efforts.”
The Lady Chargers are back in action on the road Thursday at Prairie State College in Chicago Heights, IL. Game time is set for 7 p.m. Central Standard Time.
Ancilla College, part of The Center at Donaldson, offers 18 Associate’s Degree and 14 athletic programs. Since 1937, the college has been a sponsored ministry of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ and is located two miles south of US 30 on Union Road near Plymouth, Indiana.
