Argos heads for round two after shutout win

ARGOS — The Argos Lady Dragons hosted the Rochester Lady Zebras in a Sectional opening round matchup Tuesday night with a 6-0 shutout.
The Dragons were first to score in the 12th minute when Emily Pippenger was able to slip the ball to Samantha Umbaugh and beat the keeper to the far post. Alleigh VanDerWeele cleaned up a bouncing ball in the box to score the Dragons’ second goal in the 20th minute.
Elliana Brown in the 26th minute, crossed the ball into the box to set up Ellie Bollenbacher, netting the third goal for Argos. Bollenbacher scored again in the 30th minute off a set piece sent in by Madison Reynolds.
In the second half, Luna Nayar-Gomez crossed the ball into the box, where Kendyl Callahan was able to capitalize and score the Dragons’ fifth goal of the game. The final goal of the game came off a Reynolds cross into Elizabeth Pranger, who was able to bounce it off a Zebra defender.
The Dragons capture the win with 25 shots on frame and move to 6-10-1 on the season. Argos will play LaVille on Thursday in the Sectional Semifinal. Kickoff with the Lancers will be at 7 p.m., following the Culver/Manchester game.
