Plymouth hangs on for NLC win

NAPPANEE — Plymouth’s softball team scored five in the first and held off NorthWood for an NLC road win on Friday, 9-6.
Gracie Patrick led the way with a pair of doubles and posted 11 strikeouts, scattering three walks and seven hits to take the win.
Ivy Stackhouse had two hits, including a triple. Brenna Laffoon and Lexi Pike each had a pair of hits.
“Big first inning leads to a big conference win,” said Plymouth coach Brian Hamman. “Gracie striking out 11 keeps the pressure off the defense. We did a nice job on defense, stranding 5 runners in scoring position.”
Plymouth is now 8-4 and 4-2 in the NLC.
Next Contest: Monday vs Northridge 5:30 pm, Centennial Park.
