Lady Dragons take a win over Muncie Central

MUNCIE — The Argos Lady Dragons hit the road to play the Muncie Central Lady Bearcats Saturday afternoon and came away with a 7-1 win.
The Dragons struck first when Caylee Mason crossed the ball to Haley Shafer, who made a quick one-touch shot in the 16th minute. In the 25th minute, Hayna Willis scored on a breakaway, 2-0. Then, in the 28th minute, Ellie Brown crossed the ball into Samantha Umbaugh, who created enough space to get her shot off on the near post to make it 3-0.
The Dragons got back on the board again in the 58th minute when Kendyl Callahan took a shot but was turned away by the Muncie goalkeeper, and Caylee Mason buried the putback goal.
Peytyn Willis took a long-distance shot in the 62nd minute, scoring the Dragons’ 5th goal. Ivy Stackhouse got involved in the attack in the 67th minute by crossing the ball into the box, where Avarie Hines was able to score one of her first goals.
The Bearcats were able to put one goal in late in the second half.
Argos scored their final goal when Caylee Mason crossed the ball into the box and Katherine Suarez took a quick shot, beating the keeper to the post.
Argos finished the game with 36 shots to Muncie’s 1.
The Dragons improve to 3-9-1 on the season and will take the week to rest and recover, going into Friday night when they will host Morgan Township.
Senior festivities will take place before kickoff, and during halftime, there will be a ceremony celebrating over thirty years of Argos Girls Soccer.
